Arts & Craft Newsletter - Campbell Town Tasmania - September 2024

Edition 6 | September 2024
From the editor:
Within our Art & Craft group during August we discussed our upcoming group art exhibition in town called MIDLANDS. Many of us have made a good start on our entries and are working on various things like; felted nature scenes featuring some little creatures we have in the area, crochet or knitted items using local influence, painted works of the town (current and old), felted hanging works of local animals – just to name a few. We’ll continue working on our entries throughout the coming months. If you, or someone you know might like to enter, please see the details below. Note: entries are coming in fast, so I would enter sooner rather than later to be included.
I am also beyond thrilled to announce that if you’ve noticed some changes or increased activity at 116 High Street, Campbell Town in the past few weeks – that’s in the old Tas Ag building opposite the IGA - my husband and I have taken up the lease there and are preparing to open an art gallery and art hub. This is a longtime dream of ours.
This will be filled with Tasmanian Art – including from four of us locals! There will be a new exhibition showing each month – starting with our MIDLANDS group exhibit. We’ll have gifts, fine arts, jewellery, clothing, sculptures, outdoor items, kitchenware, mosaics, collectable items, spiritual, hanging works, plus a range of basic art supplies, and more. More info below.
I trust you find some inspiration in your surroundings, and within you to create, build, make or tend to things that you enjoy doing this month. The days are drawing out a little longer – which can certainly be inspiring.
Happy springtime,
Lee-Anne Peters

At the Weaver's Cottages Studio we're grateful to the fibre craftspeople who demonstrated their spinning, knitting and tatting on the busy Heritage and Bullock Festival weekend. Thank you to Barbara, Carol, Raven, Jane, Jo and Trish for making the Parlour a lively activity filled space! Johnny in the front courtyard had a five-deep audience for his chairmaking demonstration on the Saturday. Lots of fascinated visitors walked away with smiles and memories ignited.
